A lot of mess and some really cute images! We love to celebrate birthdays, especially that milestone 1st birthday, so these sessions are all about having some nice photos taken first before the cake smashing madness begins, and for 'All Inclusive' sessions, ending with a bubble-filled splash in the tub! Opt for the 'All Inclusive' session for a totally unique setup just for your child and you will receive a gallery full of images to treasure.

Babies are all different, so the time scale it takes to capture the perfect photos may vary! Some babies may come in and be full of smiles and get through their session in 30 minutes! Others may take a little while to warm up to the idea, that's just the way babies are.

Sessions normally do not tend to last the full hour, but the time is there if needed for babies than need breaks or outfit changes! You may also find that some babies may not tend to smash the cake as much as you expect, that's where we will 'help' baby out to achieve the desired messiness!

If you want your images to display at their birthday celebrations, share on social media on the day or for invitations we recommend booking 4-6 weeks before their birthday to allow enough time for editing, viewing and purchase. If you want the images to display at home and to be a true reflection of them as close to their birthday as possible We'd recommend booking in on the most convenient date just before or after their birthday.

Themes can be chosen for our 'All Inclusive' package! This is one of our favourite bits! We will work together to create a custom theme for your child so the images are really personal to you and unique for your child. There is so much we can do and it is all about personal preference on the style you would like for the session. Just let us know if you have any specific preferences etc at the time of choosing your theme!

We love doing a 'Twinkle Little Star' theme in a colour of your choice, we think this works really well for one year old's as it's the last time they really feel like a baby and this is a popular theme to celebrate that. Woodland is also very popular and unicorns or mermaids are of course perfect for little girls! Being big Disney fans, a princess or Mickey & Minnie theme would be a lot of fun! If you type in 'cake smash' on pinterest there are loads of great ideas too that we can adapt to make them unique to you. You could also have a look at our bucket list for some ideas that we would love to do! You may also get a cheeky discount if you choose one of them!

We provide the cake for all of our 'All Inclusive' packages! This is normally made the match your theme! If your child has dietary requirements or allergies please let us know when booking. You are also free to bring your own cake if you wish!

All of the cakes we provide will be a vanilla sponge with buttercream frosting. We will never use fondant for our cakes as these can pose a choking risk for babies. If fondant decorations are used, these will be removed before baby gets stuck into eating!

We do not provide the cake for our basic package.

Yes, that is absolutely fine to do the session without a cake! Some babies just do not like being messy and that is completely fine! We can remove the cake altogether or substitute the cake for baby's favourite snack!

Yes, this is also an option that could be turned into a theme idea! Such as a Watermelon or Spaghetti Smash! There are some great ideas out there for all different kinds of food themed sessions. Just let us know what you're ideas are and we'll run with them!

That is absolutely fine! What we would ask our customers to do is to test baby with some cake and buttercream icing (NOT fondant!) to see how they respond to the new textures and feeling before their session! We would also prefer if you test icing that includes some food colourings to check for any allergies that may not have previously been noticed.

All of this helps us immensely in the run up to their session as it lets baby learn these new textures before in their own environment before being plopped in front of a camera with a new 'weird' food item they have never seen before lol.

Before your session we will have discussed if you have chosen custom theme for your child's session or a basic session so there may be elements of you need to bring with you on the day but this will be discussed on an individual basis as will change from session to session.

It's entirely up to you! Braces and shorts combos, rompers and tutus are all perfect options for cake smash shoots! We include an outfit choice in our 'All Inclusive' sessions and we will have a chat about preferences when booking!

If you have twins, triplets or more then we will definitely do their sessions together, but please let me know when booking as we may need to increase the session fee to accommodate the additional cake(s), outfits and decorations if required.

You are welcome to take a couple of behind the scenes photos of me photographing your baby during your session to remember this special time in your baby's life, however these shouldn't be close ups of just the baby in a set up as these are the images you have paid me to take and a phone photo will not do them justice!

As people who takes thousands of photos on our phones, we know they are invaluable in capturing those fleeting or funny things your children do every single day, but they cannot replace quality, beautifully crafted imagery that is meant for the walls and albums and this is what professional photography will give you. We will do everything in my power to coax natural smiles and laughs out of your child so the photos don't look forced or awkward, whilst showing them a really good time too so they remember the day fondly and want to keep coming back.

During your session, we will likely take around 200-400 photos. This consists of numerous angles of each pose and often very similar images, re-takes due to blinks/eyes opening, focusing on different areas and so on. Using our creative discretion, we only delicately edit the very best images including removing unsightly blemishes, colour correcting, detail enhancing and creative development to create the final photo which is what you will see in your gallery.

We aim to have most client galleries with them within 2 weeks of their shoot date. Depending on the time of year and our schedule they may take slightly longer or be with you in a matter of days!

No, you are free to order your own prints from any other vendor, however, when doing so we cannot be held liable to any printing errors that may arise. We highly recommend purchasing all of your printing via us to guarantee the photo retains its full resolution and the products you receive are of the highest quality.
